LOCTITE LIOFOL CS 7420 can be applied to paper, glassine and treated and untreated coextruded polypropylene films for snack food packaging applications. LOCTITE LIOFOL CS 7420 has been found to be compatible with release lacquers, but release lacquer compatibility should be verified by lab testing prior to use.
- Mixing Data
LOCTITE LIOFOL CS 7420 must be well stirred before use. It may be applied as supplied. If dilution is needed, add small amounts of water.
- Applications Procedure
LOCTITE LIOFOL CS 7420 may be applied by roller coater or direct pattern gravure systems at high speeds.
Application Weight
LOCTITE LIOFOL CS 7420 recommended dry coating weights are 3.0-3.5 lb/ream. Lower coat weights may be used, but seal values will decrease accordingly, and this needs to be fully evaluated by the converter.
Drying Conditions
For optimum results, substrates coated with LOCTITE LIOFOL CS 7420 must be thoroughly dried. An ultimate web temp of 150°F or greater is recommended.
Sealing Conditions
LOCTITE LIOFOL CS 7420 requires 40 PSI jaw pressure for best seals. Good seals with adhesive transfer will result at room temperature. Additional heat will improve seals.
Seal Strength
LOCTITE LIOFOL CS 7420 will form excellent bonds when subjected to sufficient pressure. 400 gpi or higher seal values should result when dyne level is >38 dynes.
Clean Up
Wet cold seal coatings should be cleaned before they dry using cold water containing soap, detergent or ammonia. Alcohol or acetate may be needed if coating is dried.

Storage & Handling
- Storage Conditions
This product has a storage life of six months from date of manufacture. Store cold seal between 50-95°F. Ensure the cold seal is stirred gently before use. CS 7420 is a developmental product so recommended storage conditions may change as new test data is needed.
If a container has been stored for several days, it should be stirred with recommended stirrer for minimum of 45 minutes before use. Stirring can continue at a much lower speed once the container is in use as a safety measure.
For finished rolls, ensure storage temperature is less than 85°F to reduce cross contamination of cold seal and release lacquer. Suspend the finished rolls on racks to prevent high pressure areas causing blocking of the cold seal.
