These structures are used for skin or fold-over packaging.

    Mixing Data

The products may be applied as supplied after good stirring. If dilution is needed, add small amounts of water to which 0.15% ammonia has been added. The use of plain water may lead to clogging of the gravure cells.

    Applications Procedure

LOCTITE LIOFOL HS A7734A may be applied by direct gravure, smooth roll, or flexographic systems. An 85 line/inch gravure cylinder will apply about 3.0 lb/ream dry coating. On a smooth roll coater, the rubber should be 45-50 durometer, and withstand the 0.5% aromatic hydrocarbon solvent in the coating. A 120 line anilox rollFlexographic unit would apply about 1.2-2.2 lb/ream dry coating.

    Application Weight

LOCTITE LIOFOL HS A7734A recommended dry coating weights for skin packaging are 3-4 lb/ream, and for fold- over packaging are 4-5 lb/ream.

    Drying Conditions

For optimum results, substrates coated with LOCTITE LIOFOL HS A7734A must be thoroughly dried. The film will not coalesce if dried at temperatures below 160°F and the coating will remain as a white, porous film. When dried above 160°F, the coating will coalesce and leave a clear, nonporous film.

    Sealing Conditions

LOCTITE LIOFOL HS A7734A will start to reactivate at 200°F. Sealing conditions should use minimum temperatures and/or dwell times to obtain maximum “quick tack”.

    Bond Strength

LOCTITE LIOFOL HS A7734A will form peelable bonds without fiber tear to a wide variety of tray materials, even after sterilization.

    Clean Up

Wet coating and application equipment should be cleaned up with water. The dried coating is softened by ester or ketone solvents.
