This product is part of Henkel Acheson's new generation of weather-strip coatings that are free from NMP (N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone). This coating is comprised of a silicone resin bonded with special lubricants and is formulated to deliver dry film lubrication and release properties suitable for a range of industrial and automotive applications. It is a one-component, water-based, resin-bonded coating specifically designed to be applied to rubber, including both hot-extruded and on-molded parts.

    Product Highlights
    • EMRALON TW-605 has been found to be an effective product in applications requiring squeak suppression and provides freeze-release characteristics when applied on primary door seals and is reducing the friction between rubber and glass or painted surfaces.
    • The product contains an UV-tracer to make it visible under UV light ( for checking presence of the coating).
    • The cured coating is mat black in appearance, flexible, shows a good wear resistance and is not abrasive to painted surfaces.

    Recommended Applications
    • Always use closed containers while stirring (lid with a hole)
    • Short stirring for 10 min at 200 rpm
    • Reduced stirring speed (ca. 40 - 60 rpm) during usage of Emralon TW 605

    Theoretical Coverage:

    • ca. 30 m2/kg at 10 μm dry coatings thickness

    Application:

    • It is designed to be spray applied in-line or off-line to rubber extrusions or molded parts with a surface temperature of 50-120°C

    Pre-treatment:

    • It has an internal adhesion promoter and it might work without any pre-treatment, but this must be checked by the users, because the adhesion results might vary depending on the different rubber compounds and line conditions.

    Recommended coating thickness:

    • Squeak suppression:
      • A dry coating thickness of 10 μm is required to obtain proper squeak suppression.
    • Freeze release:
      • Good freeze-release properties are already obtained with a dry coating thickness of 10 - 15 μm.

    Cure:

    • Advised schedule:
      • 20 minutes at 70°C
      • 5 minutes at 100°C
      • 2 minutes at 180°C
    • In all cases substrate temperature

    Test for cure:

    • Toluene wipe test : at least 20 rubs
