FLEXISORB™ OD-300 binds and eliminates odors. The molecule responsible for its functionality is a zinc salt of ricinoleic acid. When properly activated in the liquid phase, the zinc atom becomes accessible and reactive to functional groups such as mercaptans, short-chain carboxylic acids, amines, thioethers, hydrogen sulfide, and ammonia. These chemicals comprise many of the commonly recognized offensive odors, including those associated with cigarette smoke, fish, sewage, skunk, urine, and garbage. Once the odor is absorbed, it is permanently bound, even when the complex dries.
