SALIGUARD BDHA is a multi-use, broad spectrum preservative system that is a combination of Organic acid and alcohol which is accepted for use in natural cosmetics. The Dehydroacetic Acid inhibits yeast and mold growth;the benzyl alcohol is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent, so they synergize each other. It provides protection in a diverse range of products, against gram- positive and gram-negative bacteria, yeast, and mold (a little weak on mold) This is a non paraben, non-formaldehyde, non-isothiazolone based preservative system.

    • Saliguard BDHA should be added at 45 0C in finished products and it works below pH 6.5 and can tolerate temperature up to 80 0C. It is compatible with almost all cosmetic raw materials. Saliguard BDHA has its best active at pH 6.0, because organic actives are in an undissociated state, it has an antiseptic effect. It’s enhanced compatibility allows for the addition of Saliguard BDHA virtually anywhere in the manufacturing process.
    • Anionics may cause discoloration - Carbomers and certain surfactants It is highly soluble in polar organic solvents. The preservative has a slight yellow tinge which isn't visible in creams, lotions and emulsified products. A small yellow tinge may be seen in clear shower products.
    • Saliguard BDHA has a very low odour making it suitable for use alone or with essential oils, where the true scent of the oils can come through without fighting the scent of the preservative.
    Recommended Use Levels

    Saliguard BDHA is suitable for use in various cosmetic applications (incl. emulsions, aqueous & anhydrous systems) such as shampoos, conditioners, moisturizers, cream lotions, bubble baths, wet wipes and sunscreens. Typical dose levels of Saliguard BDHA is 0.5 to 1.1%

    • Store in a well-closed container and use appropriate containment to avoid environmental contamination.
    • Shelf Life: If stored at ambient temperature, in the original sealed container, Saliguard BDHA has an initial shelf life of Three years.
    • Retest Period: 6 months

    • Keep drums closed when not in use. Do not contaminate drinking water, food or feed by storage or disposal. Do not breath vapour or mist and do not ingest.
