- Soda Ash in the briquette form facilitates the use and handling of Soda Ash. The primary use of Soda Ash Briquettes is for Acid Neutralization in industrial settings. Examples of which would be wastewater treatment and coal mining acid drainage water treatment.
- In treating acid mine drainage water, the soda ash briquettes are generally placed in a plywood or fiberglass feeder box where the flow of the acid drainage water, through the bottom of the feeder box, dissolves the briquettes which neutralizes the acidity in the drainage water.
- The drainage water usually has an initial pH range of 3.0 - 5.5. Soda Ash briquette treatment usually increases the pH range to the range of 7.0 - 9.0. The upper end of the pH range is usually desired if the drainage water is blended with other drainage water where the pH may be below neutral lever of pH 7.0.
- Soda Ash briquettes are also used as a flux of desulfurizer in the foundry industry and for pH and alkalinity control in swimming pools.
